Our work in IP.

Shams is meant to speak to Muslims.

I want to help the members of my community understand themselves through the teachings of our religious tradition.

Some of my Shuyukh called this discipline "Science of the Self".

Let's learn together to understand:
- Anxiety and inner turmoil
- Doubts of faith or guilt, waswasa (obsessive religious thoughts)
- Family or relationship difficulties
- Moments of crisis or blockage and complex spiritual questions
- Spiritual traumas (religious blocks) and spiritual abuse

...and much more.

All this, with an approach based on the Qur'an, the Sunnah and the heritage of Islamic scholars.

Your Counsellor

My name is Francesca Bocca-Aldaqre.

I'm a BA in psychology, Master in neuro-cognitive psychology and PhD in neuroscience. I am the first Italian to obtain an international degree in Islamic psychology (Cambridge Muslim College) and to direct an Islamic psychology department (International Open University).

I have been working on spiritual well-being for over 15 years, with a specific focus on the Muslim experience.

I have also taught these disciplines at universities, and I was the director of the Averroes Institute of Islamic Studies (Piacenza).

What is Islamic Psychology?

Have you ever heard of Islamic Psychology? In this short video I answer the most frequently asked questions:

What's the difference between “modern” and Islamic psychology?

Is "Just pray" a correct islamic approach to mental health?

Is IP a religious discipline? A pseudo-science? A scientific approach?

Why I can be useful even if you don't have “serious problems”?

“Finally a space where I feel understood both as a woman and as a Muslim.”
